TRIGGERS BOOK CHAPTER 1
Here’s the first installment of the new Triggers book I wrote you about. Its working title is Triggers for Peak Performance. Reading it can change your life

This book in progress is about performing at your very best. The better you perform, the better your business will thrive and contribute to giving you a satisfying life.

Chapter 1
How to Use Triggers to Motivate Yourself to Enthusiastically, Effectively and Successfully Build Your Ideal Business.

Most high achievers did NOT achieve their success because they were so smart, but because they developed the inner power within them to go for the gusto. They learned how to keep stoking the fire in the belly. They kept their desire and passion burning.

When they were under pressure to perform well, they brought out their best. They performed at their peak.

Ask yourself this question. How successful are you right now? I guarantee you, whatever level of success you have achieved so far is more tied to your attitude than your aptitude. Success in business or any other playing field ultimately depends upon your emotional state.

Don’t you perform at your best when you are inspired, confident, eager and full of desire? These are the positive emotions.

The positive emotions motivate you, make you courageous and keep you going when the going gets tough. They are the fuel that drives you to achieve greatness. Desire is one of the positive emotions and the number one attitude you need for success. If you have “fire in your belly,” anything is possible.

Dear reader, What obstacles have you overcome because your desire was so strong? Share your personal story with us. It may become part of the book (with your permission, of course.)

“They tell you to set goals but they don’t deal with the bigger issues of how do you stay on track? How do you keep motivating yourself day after day? How do you get yourself to take consistent action?” (a recent question.)

TRIGGERS is about performing at your very best. it’s about staying on track, motivating yourself day after day and taking consistent action – and doing it very well. that’s called Peak Performance. The better you perform, the better your business will thrive and contribute to giving you a satisfying life.

As a business coach, that is what I help my clients do.

Why is it some business people create businesses that do so well while others struggle and even fail?

You see it all the time. Two people with similar backgrounds, education and grades; both start very similar businesses. One person builds a business that supports a great lifestyle, has time with his family and enjoys great vacations. The other is barely making ends meet and is working all the time.

The answer is one performs much better than the other. He manages his time better. A real leader, he takes charge and is a great boss who delegates wisely and often. He has high standards and is demanding, but it’s fair. Hiring slowly and firing quickly, he creates a highly effective team.

He has a positive mindset and inspires people with his enthusiasm and belief in himself. He is focused, outgoing, and above all courageous. Stepping out of his comfort zone is no problem.

He persistently pursues his goals with unflagging motivation, especially through tough times and slumps.
Adaptable, he can creatively adapt to the constantly fluctuating business world quickly. He is constantly learning and able to absorb large amounts of new information. He eagerly invests in teachers, business coaches and mentors who have expert knowledge.

Above all, he is self disciplined, avoids procrastination and does what needs to be done when it needs to be done – and he does it very well.

How closely do you measure up to this model? Where are the gaps in your performance? I’d love to hear what your biggest challenges are.

~Stan

How Triggers Work

Let me tell you a story that illustrates how Triggers work.

I remember when I was just a kid during the Great Depression. Dad was out of work. Mom took in washing when she could find somebody who could pay her. There was just enough money for food, hardly any for clothes. Anything else, like toys, was out of the question.

Buck Rogers Rocketship

I knew how to have fun with empty boxes, using a stick for a sword and my finger for a gun. But there was one toy I really wanted — a new Buck Rogers rocketship. I saw it in the local hardware store. I watched with fascination as the salesman demonstrated it. It was really neat. Wind it up and sparks shot out of its tail. I had to have it. How could I get money to buy it?

We had an apple tree in the backyard. It was fall and the apples were ripe. I would sell apples to raise the money I needed. I quickly picked the reddest ones and polished them to a bright shine.

I took my treasures out in the street and found grown men on the street corners selling apples too. “Beat it kid,” the man told me. Discouraged I started walking home.

But, I kept seeing that Buck Rogers rocketship with its sparks shooting out of the tail.

On my way I passed some business places. I looked into a barbershop and saw some men waiting. I went in and was able to sell two apples before the owner gently ushered me out. “This will work,” I thought.

I went to the next store and just got in before the owner chased me out. I was discouraged and scared, but I thought of the two apples I did sell and that Buck Rogers rocketship. That renewed my courage. I did not understand it then, but that Buck Rogers rocketship had become a Trigger. Every time I thought about it, it triggered me into action.

I kept on going, store after store. Some owners were nice and let me come in and sell my apples, others ushered me out. Not all of them were kind. Every time I got discouraged I thought of my successes and of that Buck Rogers rocketship.

I had two Triggers now, the memory of my getting money for my apples and the thought of that Buck Rogers rocketship. I kept on going until I sold all the apples.

I ran to the store and bought my toy.

This simple story is an example of the power of Triggers. These are the same principles that work on any enterprise, from selling apples to landing a rocketship on the moon.

I’ll be giving you step-by-step instructions how to use these principles to program your mind with Triggers. You can then empower yourself with unstoppable motivation whenever you need it.

Do you have a story you’d like to share about how you were highly motivated and achieved your goal?

Triggers book Chapter 1

Triggers for Peak Performance.

What creates these positive emotions? There are internal and external forces called Triggers which create your mental state. For example, looking at your marriage album will arouse certain emotions and attitudes, usually positive ones.

If you look at your lover and remember the first time you decided he or she was the one for you, you will feel very positive about your lover.

If you remember time when you achieve something very important, these memories will trigger positive emotions than you.

By contrast, recalling the time you saw a red flashing light in your rearview mirror will be a negative trigger and put you in a bad mood.

Triggers can be positive or they can be negative. Either way, they have a huge impact on you.

Triggers push your buttons, so to speak. If you don’t understand Triggers, outside events will push your buttons. Understanding Triggers and how they work will enable you to push your own buttons.

Imagine the power this will give you, to be able to put yourself in a positive mood, to perform at your peak instantly.

Next time, let me tell your story that illustrates how Triggers work.

Meanwhile, Can you recall a time when a positive or negative trigger made all the difference? Let me know.

At the root of every habit you’ve tried to break is a particular kind of inner conflict–-not lack of motivation or willpower.

Now with the “The Inner Power Generator” system you can substitute desirable behavior for unwanted habits.

It’s the technique I used to stop smoking; it’s what a doctor friend used to stop his pattern of destructive drinking at parties and what one young woman used to turn a lifelong habit of overeating into new-found confidence and health promoting lifestyle.

Do you have bad habits which are interfering with the growth of your business? Let me know.

I can give you ideas to help you. Maybe you will become part of the new updated Triggers for high achieving business people.

Breakthrough Technique #4– “The Mental Pentagon”

By using your “mental pentagon” you can now direct your own personal “war” against illness and, along with your doctor’s treatment, help yourself get well more quickly.

Based on recent scientific research on the power of positive thinking in healing disease–even cancer–this technique often works where using only conventional medicine fails.

For instance, one of my clients conquered a raging ear infection by using her “mental pentagon.”

Another highly stressed businessman used it to ease the symptoms of his irritable colon.

And, just a few minutes a day spent on the mental pentagon technique can actually help promote health and vitality and prevent illness.

Are you struggling with a chronic illness that is not responding to conventional treatment? Or . . .

Do you have a personal story you can share about how you used your mind to overcome a health challenge?

We’d love to hear from you. Maybe you will be featured in the new book.

Technique #3– “Multichannel Thinking”

Ever wonder why some people can solve problems in a snap or come up with creative ideas almost instantly?

Chances are they’ve mastered the technique of using all their thinking “channels,” and not just the one or two that most people get by with. Now with the easy multichannel thinking exercises in my book (which I’ll explain in detail in later blog posts).

Most people are one-channel thinkers and go through life specializing in their favorite mental channel. Some are see-ers, others are hearers, and still others are feelers. The see-ers among us will see solutions to problems, hearers will talk them out, and feelers will work them out.

Even if you’re partial to one channel, you can actually prime your mind to think more creatively, solve problems, learn and apply new information quickly.

And, as an added bonus you’ll discover how multichannel thinkers use their skill to get along better with different types of people.

How about you? Tell me how being a multichannel thinker could help your business, and I may use you as an example in the step-by-step instructions to applying this techniques.

Technique #2–”The Mental Blueprint”

Now you can master new skills and challenges using the same technique Olympic champions have used to insure peak performances.

One client of mine used this mental blueprint technique to improve his golf game dramatically without arduous hours of practice, while a shy young woman used it to become a more dynamic and assertive conversationalist and rev up her social life (after having been painfully shy for years).

In seven easy steps (which I’ll describe in later blog posts) you can use the mental blueprint technique not only to master new skills speedily, but to take on the winning ways you admire most.

What situations in your business life may benefit from use of The Mental Blueprint? Jot down a few areas where “seeing” could lead to “believing.” I may use your personal block as the example in detailing how to apply this breakthrough technique. Drop me a line — I want to hear from you!

In the next few posts I’ll touch on just a few masterful techniques and what they can do for you:

Breakthrough Technique #1–”The Trigger”

A few minutes is all it takes for you to create a “trigger”–the powerful mental reflex that is the foundation for all mental programming techniques in this guide.

Your personal triggers will activate your hidden powers of motivation instantly so you can fulfill your every goal and desire. Many people have used this trigger reflex to finally accomplish things they’d only dreamed of doing for years.

Whether you want to market your creative talents, make a difficult career move or even go on a diet, when you use your “trigger” you’ll never have to push yourself to do the job — instead, you’ll have to remind yourself to stop!

Do you have a motivation problem that you’d like to tackle, once and for all? Let me know what it is and I’ll use it as an example for step-by-step instructions on how to apply “The Trigger” technique.

When I began teaching my clients and students how to use these as self-help techniques, many asked for written instructions or books on the subject. I could only refer them to technical books and journals full of thick technical jargon. Also, they were written for professionals to use on their clients. What was needed were instructions written in a straightforward manner which could be followed by anyone to use on him or herself.

Also, it occurred to me that such a book could reach a wide audience and let a great many people benefit from Triggers’ mental programming techniques.

As a result, this book was written to explain these extremely useful methods from a self-help viewpoint.

Triggers does not just give you intellectual understanding or “insight.” Exact methods are given to make the specific changes you want. Scientific jargon is stripped off and replaced with clear, everyday language. I include easy to follow, step-by-step instructions, and detailed examples of how others have used these techniques to immeasurably enrich their lives.

I will elaborate on applying various Triggers in future blog posts. Stay tuned!
